This spring we’re excited to partner with Bread SRSLY, an artisan gluten-free bread company that harnesses wild fermentation to create food that nourishes and supports gut health. 

Available on our Spring Menu, our new Chickpea of the Sea Sandwich features a novel take on the classic tuna sandwich that uses BREAD SRSLY’s Gluten-Free Sourdough.

“The idea behind this lunch was to offer a fresh and nutritious dish, like our salads, but with a playful twist. During our hunt for gluten-free bread, we met Sadie, founder of Bread SRSLY. They not only have a delicious Gluten-Free Sourdough but also share our values of sustainability and serving nourishing foods with high ingredient integrity. We sat down with Bread SRSLY’s marketing manager, Nicole Mion, to learn everything you knead to know about this incredible Gluten-Free Sourdough bread. 

What makes Bread SRSLY's Gluten-Free Sourdough rolls unique compared to other gluten-free bread products?

Our Gluten-Free Sourdough Sandwich Rolls are made with just six ingredients, are gum-free, rice-free, and even lectin-free! Our Sandwich rolls are made with psyllium husk and have an airy, crumpet-like texture, plus that distinct, tangy sourdough flavor. These rolls are beloved for their versatility – use them as an English muffin replacement, or even a veggie burger bun!

How does gluten-free sourdough bread nourish and support gut health?

We’re so glad you asked! Our sourdough goes through a slow fermentation process (over 12 hours) that results in a bread that is easier for your body to digest! As a result, there is a higher bioavailability of nutrients and vitamins and minerals in the food are easier for the body to digest and absorb. Sourdough is also generally better tolerated – especially by those with digestive issues. 

What should people know about gluten-free bread when it comes to its nutritional value and ingredients?

At Bread SRSLY, we want our gluten-free breads to be as nourishing as they are delicious. That’s why we strive to keep a short ingredient list (just the good stuff here!) and all our products are free of preservatives, oils, and sugar. Because our products are also all sourdough, there is the added nutritional benefit of wild and slow fermentation, which can make our bread a lot easier to digest than other gluten-free bread that isn’t sourdough. 

How does Bread SRSLY ensure that its gluten-free sourdough rolls are not only delicious but also safe for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities?

All of our products are certified gluten-free by GFCO, and made in a dedicated gluten-free facility. We also test for the presence of gluten in our kitchen to ensure we’re keeping our customers safe!
